Turkey Construction Production Grows Strongly in December 2025
Data show that the construction output index, without accounting for calendar effects, climbed to 151.2 points in December 2025, marking its highest level. When adjusted for calendar variations, the index reached 150.4 points, the strongest reading since January 2022 when the data series began, representing a 7.5% year-on-year increase. Adjusting for both calendar and seasonal effects, the index totaled 129.1 points.
All sub-sector indexes also reached peak levels in December 2025. The building construction index rose 8.4%, the civil engineering index increased 5.8%, and the specialized construction activities index grew 5.5% compared to the previous year.
Ali Hepsen, a professor of business administration at Istanbul University, explained that Türkiye’s construction production has experienced fluctuations for some time, largely due to financing challenges that restrained output in 2024. “However, reaching a peak level like 150.4 points is important — the acceleration on construction sites has already been felt in the field since the second half of last year, and the data reflects that,” he said.
Hepsen highlighted that the 8.4% rise in the building construction index shows that housing continues to drive the sector. The growth in non-building construction, represented by the civil engineering index, points to support from public investments, while the increase in specialized construction activities indicates that “the supply chain is working.”
