IAEA Inspectors Back in Iran to Resume Full Oversight

(MENAFN) UN nuclear inspectors have resumed visits to Iranian sites untouched by June’s attacks, the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said Wednesday, urging stronger cooperation to reestablish complete oversight.

Director General Rafael Grossi updated the agency’s Board of Governors on the IAEA’s global efforts to maintain nuclear safety, security, and safeguards.

He said: "Our inspectors are back in Iran and have carried out inspections at facilities unaffected by June’s attacks, but more engagement is needed to restore full inspections."

Grossi emphasized that the agency remains in regular contact with Tehran and continues striving toward a "full return" to standard verification operations.

Shifting focus to Ukraine, Grossi highlighted that recent repairs to the Dniprovska and Ferosplavna power lines ended a month-long loss of off-site electricity at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.

He added: "As always, the IAEA continues focused on delivering results, guided by science and cooperation, for the benefit of all."
